Der Stuttgarter Autokonzern Daimler AG verzeichnete im ersten Quartal dieses Jahres einen Gewinnanstieg von 71 Prozent auf 2,03 Milliarden Euro. Der Umsatz belief sich auf 24,7 Milliarden Euro und bedeutet eine Steigerung von 10 Prozent gegenüber dem gleichen Vorjahreszeitraum. Der positive Ausblick auf das Geschäftsjahr 2011 wurde mit den Zahlen nun bestätigt, die laut Konzernchef Dieter Zetsche deutlich über dem Plan liegen. Das EBIT-Ergebnis soll im Vergleich zum vergangenen Jahr deutlich erhöht werden und der Umsatz soll erhöht werden. Bei den Absatzzahlen plant das Unternehmen ebenfalls eine Steigerung.
Nach Konzernangaben hätten sich mit PKW, LKW, Transporter und Finanzdienstleistungen alle Geschäftsbereiche positiv entwickelt. Die finanziellen Belastungen wegen des Erdbebens in Japan liegen Daimler zufolge bei 49 Millionen Euro. In einem japanischen Werk werden LKW produziert. Der Absatz im PKW-Bereich konnte um 12 Prozent auf 310.700 Einheiten gesteigert werden während der Umsatz auf 13,9 Milliarden Euro zulegte. Das PKW-Geschäft arbeitet erfolgreich und konnte einen Gewinn vor Steuern und Zinsen von 1,29 Milliarden Euro erwirtschaften.
